This new section is dedicated to comment and publish different solutions I have found (thanks to others) to solve my computer problems…
I am not an expert on computers but I use them every day (and I must admit that I enjoy a lot with them). I like the open source philosophy and this is the main reason because I use a Linux family OS (Ubuntu). Frequently, when you use Linux you find a lot of incompatibilities with programs that normally run under windows or MAC, and you must read forums and surf in the internet to find a possible solution…
Here I list the problems I had and the solutions I found…I hope they will be useful for you too.. good luck!!
Matlab program does not change the fontsize and font class on Ubuntu 14.04
When I installed Matlab 2011b in Ubuntu I discovered that I cannot change the font type and the font size on my graphics. I found in the internet that it was common and this solution from the Ubuntu forum worked for me:
1. Copy all your truetype fonts (*.ttf files) to
2. Create a fonts.scale and a fonts.dir in that directory:
sudo mkfontscale /usr/local/fonts/truetype/
sudo mkfontdir /usr/local/fonts/truetype/
3. Create the file /etc/X11/xorg.conf.d/04-fonts.conf with the following content:
4. Logout and then login.
You can check that your fonts are available with:
xset -q |grep font
xlsfonts |grep <your-font-name>
And then, all the fonts from the truetype dir are available for Matlab graphics.
